Adding in Healthy Foods
Cycle 8 Session 38 - Adding in Healthy Foods
Self-Reflection Questions
WHO cooks most of your meals? What's in it?
WHAT are healthy meal choices for you? Should you have any restrictions? Get to know your body.
WHERE can you go to find affordable, healthy, fresh foods in your area? (farmers market)
WHY do some people cleanse their bodies at times? (research cleansing or speak to your doctor)
WHEN you begin to eat more natural foods, do you have to give up all processed foods?
HOW can you know if you are eating a balanced diet? (What goes in must show out, lol)
Self-Reflection Points
Try adding in natural flavors to make your meals taste good. For example, fruit, vegetables, all-natural, raw, or organic seasoning.
It may be hard to "take away" something you like, so start by “adding in” natural food choices. ie, add in a fruit/garden salad to your meal plan. Try a new natural food whenever you get a chance. Keep adding in, you might just find a new favorite food.
Healthy eating can look different from person to person. You may have a restrictive diet due to an illness, your body may not be able to digest certain foods, or you may be allergic to certain foods. Get to know your body. Don't assume because something is good for everyone else, it's good for you or vs vs.
Go to the doctor, get a blood test to see your vitamin levels. You may need to eat more or less of a certain food.
Healthy drinking is also important. Be mindful of the ingredients that are found in drinks, juices, sodas, and teas. You can be doing more damage with toxic drinking habits than with eating habits. It is suggested by most nutritionists that you drink clean, clear water.
You can get to know what's healthy for your body by seeing a nutritionist. It's better than finding out through trial and error. You may need to have blood work done before deciding on a final diet plan.
Read the label, and know what you're putting in your body. However, most real foods don’t come with labels or any other ingredients besides themselves.
Cooking at home is usually a safer and healthier choice.
Fasting can be very beneficial. Fasting repairs and resets the entire body, including the brain. There are many different ways of fasting. Do your research; fasting can also have some health risks if not done properly. Fasting is to abstain from food and/or drink for a period of time. Fasting can be done as a body cleansing, or if done with prayer, can enhance your spiritual awareness.
Our food intake matters; it affects our mood, body, and soul.
Matthew 6:17-18 Holy Bible (WHEN (not if) you fast - we should fast) Holy Bible
(17) But thou, When thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; (18) That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
Mark 9:23-29 Holy Bible (There is POWER in fasting) Holy Bible
(28) and when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him (Dumb and deaf spirit) out (of a child)? (29) And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
